THE FOREVER YOUNG BBL

How does the Forever Young BLL™ treatment work?

Forever Young BBL™ utilizes a light system by Sciton Lasers called BBL™. This light is delivered to the skin surface in precise pulses across the treatment area. The photo-thermal energy will diminish the fine vessels which causes redness and unwanted melanin that produces pigmented lesions.

  • 01. Prep The Patient

    S. Thetics Med Spa assesses and cleanses the area to be treated and marks any areas to be avoided (such as a mole, permanent make up, tattoo, etc.). A headband is placed on the patient to provide a clearer working surface.

  • 02. Further Safety Prep

Patient is given protective eyewear. Our [technician, nurse?] applies a clear ultrasound gel to the treatment area, then places on his or her own BBL™ eyewear.

  • 03. Treat Sunspots, Rosacea, & More

The Forever Young BLL™ device thoroughly treats the right cheek, then the left. A square adaptor is applied to the forehead, nose, upper lip, and chin. Then, a larger adaptor is attached to apply heat to the right cheek and jaw line, then the left.

  • 04. Ensure Lasting Results

The patient's eyewear and ultrasound gel are removed. The skin is cleansed, and eye cream, serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen are applied. The headband is removed and we discuss questions, follow-up, and post-care.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • BBL™ is an innovative light-based technology that sets new standards for treating skin conditions associated with aging, active life-styles and sun damage. BBL™ light energy allows your clinician to design treatments personalized for your skin and precisely treat age and sun spots, small facial veins, and many other skin defects. BBL™ phototherapy is noninvasive so you can receive comfortable and effective treatments to fit your schedule, even on a lunch break.

  • BBL™ deposits pulses of light energy that gently heats the upper layers of skin. Within the skin, the light energy is absorbed by targets, such as fine, broken vessels that cause redness and brown spots or pigmented lesions that are caused by an overproduction of melanin. This scientific and biological process destroys the target, eliminating it from the skin and restoring it to its natural beauty, blending its natural tones, making it more vibrant and youthful in appearance and touch.

  • Pigmented Lesions (e.g., freckles, age spots, melasma) Vascular Lesions (e.g., small blood vessels, rosacea and other micro-capillary flushing conditions) Acne, Skin laxity, Uneven Skin Texture and Unwanted Hair.

  • Any area of your body can be treated. The most popular treatments are on the face, neck, back of the hands, chest, and shoulders.

  • The number of treatments needed varies from patient to patient and your clinician will personalize a treatment plan based on your skin defects and the level of improvement you desire. Your clinician may also combine your treatment with other popular aesthetic procedures to further enhance the outcome.

  • Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. You may briefly feel a warm or "rubber band snap" sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Your procedure may take a few minutes to a half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type of procedure performed. Your clinician will discuss all of your options with you.

  • The procedure is gentle, non-invasive and safe. Generally, there is no need for a topical anesthetic but your clinician may choose to use it on more sensitive areas. Patients often describe a slight stinging sensation, like the snapping of a rubber band, in the treated areas. Most individuals find this to be very tolerable. Your face may appear red or flushed, something which usually fades within a few hours.

  • You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. Pigmented lesions will darken and gradually flake off and fade over the next 7-10 days. (Individuals with prominent pigmentation may notice that brown areas become temporarily darker, peeling off in 10-14 days.) Often your treated skin will feel smoother, fine lines and pores begin to be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results depend on your skin’s condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated. Your clinician will provide you with complete information about the post-treatment care and results.

  • This is a noninvasive and gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you are able to return to work, apply makeup, and resume most of your activities immediately. Rarely, some individuals develop “purpura” or bruising. Although uncommon, this sometimes occurs in individuals with a very prominent red component. This is painless and typically fades in about 5-10 days. Any bruising may be covered with makeup.Individuals with prominent brown or red color may develop slight temporary swelling for a few days, especially if being treated around the eyes.

  • It is important to follow your clinician’s instructions. You may be given some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. If you must go outdoors, it is recommended that you cover your treated skin and use sun block of SPF 30. BE GENTLE! Do not scratch or pick at your skin.

Until sensitivity has completely subsided, avoid all of the following:

    • Use of scented lotions or soaps, exfoliant creams (Retin-A, glycolic/salicylic and alpha-hydroxy acids), acne creams or gels, loofa sponges, and aggressive scrubbing.

    • Hot or cold water - wash with tepid water.

    • Shaving.

    • Swimming pools and spas with multiple chemicals/chlorine.

    • Activities that cause excessive perspiration.
